Education Opportunity Nebraska postcard

Education Opportunity Nebraska (EON), a nonprofit think tank headquartered in Omaha, NE, is on a mission to improve educational opportunities for students in Nebraska.

By researching policies and spending, measuring the effectiveness of existing educational programs, and educating their primary target markets (the public, media, and policy makers) on successful best practices, they’ve made great strides in improving education in the state.

EON came to us in need of an inexpensive printed tool to introduce their mission to new members of their target markets while bolstering their image as a focused and effective organization. Although this printed piece would not directly request donations, by making EON more widely known, it would indirectly facilitate fundraising.

While EON initially envisioned a simple brochure, we recommended a half-sheet, two-sided design as a versatile, money-saving solution for their budget-conscious organization. Such a design could be used as a handout or a postcard depending on the situation, and could be printed two to a page at a low cost. We also designed it with sufficient margins to allow last-minute printing on a desktop printer if necessary. The open space on the back of the piece, meanwhile, if not used for a postcard address, could accommodate a personalized note or an affixed business card.

EON supplied the copy (text) for the card; our mission was to fit the copy, an image, a call to action, contact information, and their logo into a small space while creating a professional, modern, and easy-to-read appearance. We kept the design simple, laying out the format in clean lines, instilling a modern feel using neutrals paired with shots of red, and encouraging readership with an eye-catching photo of a red apple precariously balanced atop a tall stack of books held by a young student.

The piece has since garnered positive exposure and compliments for EON and continues to be widely circulated.
